Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Ive been suffering from anxiety for about 3 months but I have a problem with substance abuse due to the panic attacks. Are there medications that are legal that will help me from attempting suicide?
PS. (I only began abusing illegal drugs because I was embarrassed and ashamed of my panic attacks)

I’m 24 yrs old and have been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks since I was in high school. for the longest time I tried dealing with it myselft, but I just keep getting worse. I finally went to the dr. and he diagnosed me with generalized anxiety and panic attacks. He first put me on zoloft but the side effects were horrible so I stopped taking it. He has now prescribed my lexapro, but I’m scared to take it because of my exprience with zoloft. Has anyone else tried lexapro? what was your experience with it? Also, besides medication, how do you deal with panic attacks in public and while you’re at work?

My younger sister, who has never flown in an airplane in her life, is coming to visit me in Italy over the summer. She is very excited, but also very nervous about the trip, because she will be travelling on an airplane for the first time ever, she will be alone, and she sometimes has anxiety attacks or panic attacks in situations like that. She is 22 years old and she has seen her doctor about medication, etc. I’m just looking for any tips for how to make the trip as stress-free as possible for her.

Also, should she inform cabin crew on the plane about her situation, in case she does have a panic attack? And if so, how should she go about doing that? She is worried that cabin crew might over-react and think she is a threat or very ill or something, which could cause chaos on the airplane. Has anyone out there ever dealt with this kind of thing before? Is it ok to give a stewardess a note about such a condition?
