Discouraged with anti depressants, any words of encouragement?
7 weeks ago i started effexor, then 2 weeks ago i changed for zoloft. Effexor made the anxiety stay, and i still had panic attacks, but i think it helpe dmy mood.
Now on zoloft, the anxiety is gone, but my mood is horrible. I’m really depressed. wake up every morning not wanting to stay alive. And its so hard to fight that thought.
It took me 2 years to actually agree to taking the meds. and it was my last hope. now i keep having to change. Which by the way, i have side effects everyday for 7 weeks now. Its not a good thing..
Should i change again? I got a docs app. in a week. Should i go back to effexor, or try a new one? I’m going crazy. Im so sick of this.
Does anyone here have the same problem?
And most importantly, does anyone have any words of encouragement for me..?
How the h*ll do you cure depression?
Im scared to leave the house, i dont have much friends. I’m only 17. Im out of school so i stay home all day.
Ive tried going out more. but nothing interests me. and when i’m done being occupied. The intense, INTENSE depressed feeling kicks in.
Please help..

I have had a wonderful response from patients with anxiety and panic attacks, when EFT has been used. In most cases the recovery has been immediate with no recurrence! Anyone can download the easily understood manual, for FREE, at: http://www.eftfree.net/downloads/the_eftfree_manual.pdf and practice on themselves. Seems to good to be true? Try it – it’s free, you have nothing to loose but your problems!!! BTW, this is not my site nor does it have anything to do with me, I just want people to know about EFT and get better.
John.

Taking a natural B complex vitamin might be helpful with your depression. Do a search on vitamins and depression where you will find a lot of information.
It often takes a bit of time with getting your meds suited to you because it is all trial and error. No two people are just alike and meds work differently on each person.
If you can get your mood lightened you will find you are taking an interest in life again.
I care what happens to you and I hope you will come back here and update your question, but remember it will take some time to get those meds worked out for you. Just hang in there.
If you live in a safe area maybe you can take a walk and let your thoughts blow away with the wind, and just enjoy what you see.
Take care.

Dear Emily,
You are not alone, thousands maybe millions feel exactly the same way. Do not be discouraged. Do you know what you have been diagnosed with. Is it OCD, GAD, Bipolar?
There are hundreds of meds out there. You just have not found the right one yet. Think positive, you will find the right combination and your life will be managable.
Ask your doctor about the PET Scan. I read that it can pinpoint the right medication.
If you feel the need to discuss this further with me. I will gladly advise you based on my long experience.
Good Luck

Effexor and Zoloft did not suit me, I am on Lofepramine now and it works fine.
When a doctor gives you an antidepressant it is a bit of guess work to start with. Give Escitalopram a try, it is good for depression and anxiety.

my friend suffered from anxiety and depression, and stopped going to school because of it, she took anti depressants and she is Alott happier now, she has become really close to her family which i think helped her through, before she hated her family. she also saw a psychiatrist who helped herAlott with her anxiety, took her out in public.. shopping, on walks etc. she was also forced to go to this group through her psychologist, it was all people roughly the same age who had issues, they did things like rock climbing, art classes and outings to other places. she learned how tosocializee better, although shedoesn’tt really keep in touch with anyone it really helped her. i am still her only friedn but visit her quite regularly, try meeting up with a friend, go to the cinema or something, if you arent really that close to any getting to know them better, you could also go to college and meet more new people . hope this helps

You have to give it more time. Two weeks is not long enough for the meds to truly start working. I’ve been on about a half dozen anti-depressants and have finally found one that mostly works. You have to be patient. The brain is so complex it’s hard to fix on the first try.

Talk to your doctor about your feelings. It does take a very long time for your meds to kick in. I started out on 10 mg of Celexa, then went to 20, 30, and 40 until I finally found some relief of my anxiety/panic/depression. I know it’s hard, but if you’re patient and have a good doctor who’ll work with you, you will find that med that works for you. You have my prayers. Depression is a hell of a disease.

You aren’t alone. My son was an athlete and great student but his depression led him to drug abuse. Even when he got clean he had psychosis. He has tried several meds but not all of them. We have had success with amino acid supplements like glycine and glutamine and GABA. Some people respond to niacin, B6, B12, zinc, or SAMe. St. John’s Wort can be as good as prozac for some. Everyone is different. Omega 3 fatty acids are good and you cannot expect to get well on a junk food diet. Don’t make it worse with drugs or alcohol. Suicidal depression can be helped with dilantin, an anticonvulsant, 100mg twice a day. Your family doctor can prescribe it. Since you waited two years for meds I assume you tried some of these things. Meds can help, especially short term, to give natural remedies time to work. Here’s some websites to guide you. Testing for amino acid levels and food allergies is also helpful. My son is gluten-and dairy intolerant, you might try a gluten free diet to see if it helps.
