i suffer with depression and anxiety and although i have been ok throughout this pregnancy, i was worried about it returning after the baby is born

talk to your midwife or gp, they should be able to put you in touch with health professionals who you can discuss the problem with and make plans /take action for your anxiety

try relaxation tapes and see if they help- i found them beneficial to me

dont try to ignore your anxiety, find out what your trigger is and try to resolve the problem, dont feel like a failure if you have to use medication, the gp/midwife will advise you on what is ok to take during pregnancy

I have the same problem - I was diagnosed with a general anxiety disorder several years ago and have been dealing with the anxiety without medication (I tried several types, just none had worked). I recently got pregnant and have found my anxiety attacks are more frequent. I continue to deal with them without medication - I don't want to take any risks at all with being pregnant.

People have suggested meditation and exercise, as well as drinking herbal teas and lots of water. I would try everything you can before going on some psychotrophic/bettablocker/neuroleptic medication.

I have been having the same problem although mine have eased up some now (i'm 16 weeks). I use some of the bach flower remedies. I also find that exercise helps me reduce my anxiety. I also find things that take my mind off of my anxiety like reading a book or taking a hot bath. Find whatever helps you to relax...

I have anxiety as well.
Depending on what triggers your attacks, there is plenty you can do.
Here are some suffestions of what has helped me.
I practice breathing techniques. This has worked for me for years. I feel more in control of my body and I can "slow" down. Breathing has been a lifesaver for me, and I even got to get off meds because I learned to relax through breathing and meditation.
Also, I have tried to learn AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE about this pregnancy! The more informed I feel, the better I feel. People like us do not like the unexpected, so the more we know, the better.
Also, exercise. I hate doing it! Hate it. But is part of what keeps my body balances and relaxed. I hope this helps!
If it is really severe, and you know what triggers your panic, then your doctor can prescribe a safe med for emergencies. I have bad attacks on planes, and I flew to visit my husbands family in Switzerland when I was 5 months pregnant, and he gave me something for "just in case". Thankfully I did not have to use it, because of my breathing techniques.
Good luck!

i agree with the first one u need to find a way to calm urself daily even if ur not tripping. i get the same attacks and the best thing to do is go lay down and feel the baby,it helps make me relax and it changes my train of thought.

yoga may help, any type of meditation or deep breathing

Dr. Jeannette Kavanagh, wrote a book titled "Calming Words," offers breathing techniques as one way to help calm anxiety.
