I am a counselor and I specialize in panic disorder. You would need to talk to a mental health professional to determine whether or not you have panic disorder, but assuming you do:

Good news, panic attacks are very treatable! I do not recommend that you use medication, especially benzodiazapines, such as valium or xanax, because they just ease the symptoms without curing the anxiety. The best treatment is to find a psychotherapist who specializes in behavioral therapy.

Good Luck!

First of go the Dr. and get diagnosed. There are medications for both panic & anxiet attacks. Breathing can also help I learned mine from my counselor, which is another good thing to have to talk to.I would get it under control before it gets worse

There are several ways...1st, you can see a psychotherapist. It helps to understand what is going on and they can give you suggestions of how to get yourself through them. It also helps to know there are lots more people out there suffering the same as you. 2nd, you could go on an anti-anxiety drug...they can be very helpful. 3rd, there are anxiety/panic disorder tapes. They come in a series. I have used all three methods for the best results.

First, make sure you are actually having an anxiety attack (ask when you see your doctor). Depending on your age it could be anything from minor to something serious like a cardiac problem.

IF it is anxiety, there are many relaxation exercises (deep breathing), soothing music, guided images, etc. And medications, however they can be easily addicted. Yes, I know people say "not me", but those medications are very addicting a they they DO help, but make you feel so good, then when/if your doctor cuts you off from them, you end up doing bad things to get them and you end up in jail.
